Wordle Words: Complete Answer & Guess Dictionary

The two lists come from the Wordle answer and accepted-guess data used by this site. We check them for errors and recalculate the statistics whenever the underlying data changes. If you spot something that looks wrong, please let us know so we can correct it.

Start with the 2,350 possible answers. That list cuts out obscure guesses and keeps the results focused on words that could actually solve the puzzle. Stuck with an awkward group of letters? Widen the search to all 14,855 accepted guesses. The full dictionary is 6.3 times larger, so it is useful for testing letters but can add plenty of unlikely answers.

Which letters earn a place in an early guess? In the answer list, E appears in 45.4% of words; A and R come next. We count a letter once per word, even when it is repeated. A common letter will not guarantee a good guess, but testing several of the leaders at once usually tells you more than chasing a rare letter too soon.

First letters are not spread evenly across the dictionary. S opens 15.7% of possible answers, well ahead of C and B. That changes how much a green first tile helps: a common opener can still leave a long list, while an unusual one may narrow the puzzle quickly. The chart shows the count and percentage for the ten most common starting letters.

Look at the other end of the word and the order changes. E finishes 18.2% of possible answers, with Y in second place. Because those endings occur so often, finding one in green may leave more choices than you expect. A less common final letter tends to do more of the narrowing for you.

For this count, vowels are A, E, I, O, and U; Y stays in the consonant group. Two vowels are the most common pattern, appearing in 57.8% of possible answers. Another 31.7% have just one. Together, those groups account for almost nine words in ten. Three-vowel answers are much less common at 9.8%, while zero or four vowels are genuine outliers. Two vowels therefore make a sensible opening target, though the tiles on your board should guide every guess after that.

Do not rule out a word simply because one letter appears twice. The answer list contains 762 words with a repeat—32.4%, or roughly one in three. The other 1,588 use five different letters. If four tiles seem to fit but no new letter works, trying a repeated letter is often the right next move.

1. Use Starts with for green letters fixed at the beginning.
2. Use Ends with for green letters fixed at the end.
3. Put every yellow letter that must appear somewhere under Contains.
4. Add grey letters to Excludes to remove any word that uses them.
